How We Score the Software

Each product is scored out of 100 on ten things a mobile oil change van needs, each weighted by what its absence costs a business that drives to every job. The facts come only from each vendor's own website, and the site is published by Mobile Service Sync, which ranks its own software first.

The Ten Criteria and Their Weights

A lube bay never pays for the drive between cars, never loses signal in a parking garage and never turns away a booking from outside its map. An oil change van pays for all three, and the weights below are set by that difference.

CriterionWeightWhy it weighs that much
Vehicle records with plate or VIN lookup15The vehicle is the job. Software that files work under a person or a property makes you retype the year, make, model and engine at every visit.
Route optimization12Drive time is the cost a shop with bays never pays. Putting a day's stops in order is the feature that pays for the software.
Technician app on iPhone and Android10The tech is in a driveway, not at a desk. The app has to carry the day: stops, navigation, inspections, payment.
Works with no signal10Parking garages, apartment lots and rural roads drop signal. A job that cannot be closed until the van finds a bar is a job that gets forgotten.
Online booking that respects your area and capacity10A booking from forty minutes outside your area, or at a time no van is free, is worse than no booking.
Fleet accounts10One fleet is forty vehicles, a PO and net terms. It is the steadiest money in mobile service, and it needs its own pricing and billing rules.
Two-way texting8Customers answer texts. On-my-way, running-late and follow-up all live in the thread.
Automatic review requests5Reviews decide who gets the next call. A request that goes out on its own goes out every time.
Stock counted per van5Oil, filters and parts ride in the van. Stock counted at a warehouse does not tell you what the van can do today.
Published price, month to month, free trial15A small business should see the price, try it without a card and leave when it wants. Demos, quotes and annual contracts cost time and lock you in.

How Each Cell Is Read

Every criterion lands on one of six levels. On the first plan it earns the full weight; partial, a dearer plan or an add-on earns half; missing or unpublished earns nothing.

LevelShare of the weightWhat it means
Included100%On the plan an owner with one van would buy first.
Higher plan50%Only on a dearer plan. The review names that plan and its price.
Add-on50%Bought separately, on top of the plan.
Partial50%Present but partial: view-only offline, grouping without ordered stops, one platform only, or texts that cannot be answered.
Not offered0%The vendor's own material says it is not offered, or says it needs the opposite, such as a live connection.
Not stated0%The vendor's own site says nothing either way. What a vendor does not publish is not scored in its favor or written up as missing.

Questions About the Method

Who publishes this site?
Mobile Service Sync does, and its own software is ranked first. The ten criteria are what an oil change van needs from software, and every one of them is on Mobile Service Sync's first plan, so weigh the ranking with that in mind.
Where do the facts about other software come from?
From each vendor's own website and nowhere else: pricing pages, feature pages, help centers, terms of service and app store listings. Every row on a review links to the page that settles it, and the current set was read on November 7, 2026.
Is Mobile Service Sync held to the same rules?
Yes. Its row uses the same six levels and the same weights, and each cell is a claim its own website makes. It reaches the top because every criterion sits on its first plan, which is the case these weights reward.
What if a vendor says a cell is wrong?
Write to hello@mobileservicesync.com with the page that shows it. A cell changes as soon as the vendor's own material says otherwise, and the date on that review moves with it.
